  • Thomas Sundermann, Vice President Human Resources: „We have highly invested into our own young academics development within the last years and in the time of skills shortage, we are happy to be a first choice employer even from the students’ point of view. Leverkusen, 20.04.2017
Carcoustics is certified as a „MINT Minded Company 2017“. The company from Leverkusen that develops and produces acoustic and thermal effective products positions itself as an especially attractive employer for the so called MINT subjects: Mathematics, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Technics. During the last years, Carcoustics invested in the young academics development and even created a new position in the HR team in 2016. It is solely responsible for the area of “Young Talents” and develops trainee programs in the USA, Mexico and in China. In addition, an own talent management program “WAYS” was established to enable an individual development of existing and future employees – independent from the traditional career paths.

Since 2013, Carcoustics faces the lack of junior employees by directly addressing students and graduates. As a result, the number of “Young Talents” at the company increased from 33 in 2013 to 124 worldwide today. In the headquarter in Leverkusen, there are currently 64 trainees, students and interns working in all areas of the company, contributing to a continuous growth and success in department-comprehensive projects. Carcoustics is therefore really happy about this appreciation in terms of the award as a “MINT Minded Company 2017”: “Our continuous growth requires a successive provision of new vacancies in all areas”, says Thomas Sundermann, Vice President Human Resources of the Carcoustics Group: “In the time of skills shortage we are really happy to be a first choice employer even from the students’ point of view – because the company’s success is dependent from its employees. With our intensive cooperation with universities – especially in the area of dual education – we want to work on the qualification and development of specialists and managers.” Currently we are searching students and graduates in the departments Process Engineering, TechConsult and Production & Logistic. In some cases there is the option of filling a junior position in the company afterwards.

The certification as a „MINT Minded Company 2017“ is carried out by the audimax MEDIEN GmbH, strategic partner and member of curatorship of the Germany-wide initiative “MINT Zukunft schaffen” (MINT producing future). This initiative shall work against the lack of natural scientific, technical qualified specialists. Companies can only qualify for this certification by being nominated as an especially attractive employer by students and graduates of the MINT subjects. Last year, 17.000 nominations were received – certified were about 200 employers. The basis for this evaluation and then certification of a company is the number of nominations subject to the number of its employees.

For Carcoustics, the certification as a “MINT Minded Company” follows the award as “Top Employer Automotive Germany” that the technology-oriented company got for the fourth time in a row this year. “It is great to know that with our human resources strategy we are on a good way and this is noticed” – knows Thomas Sundermann – “but we are also continuously working on our improvement potentials to be and stay attractive for existing and future employees.”

Carcoustics is furthermore on its international growth path: In addition to the headquarter in Leverkusen and eleven other locations worldwide it was established a new plant in Wroclaw, Poland. Until 2019, four more locations in Mexico, South USA, China and Slovakia will follow.
