Carcoustics donates 1,500 euros to the Leverkusen Child Protection Association to help young families cope with their everyday lives.
The "Deutsche Kinderschutzbund e.V." (German Child Protection Association) supports the rights and interests of children and offers local help to families, children and young people with a wide range of questions and problems through its many branches throughout Germany. Carcoustics supports the Leverkusen local association with its donation.
"It is important to us that we as a company also assume social responsibility," says Katrin Schindler, Head of Human Resources Carcoustics Deutschland GmbH: “We are pleased to be able to support a local institution that works for the children and young people of our society with the Child Protection Association.”
The donation from Carcoustics will be used to support the association's baby consultation hours. This is an offer for young parents who have difficulties coping with the new challenges and tasks that living with a baby can bring. "Young families often face unexpected challenges - for example when the baby cries for hours for no apparent reason or refuses to eat," explains Helmut Ring, Chairman of the German Child Protection Association Leverkusen e.V.: "We help parents cope with their everyday lives and are delighted with the support from Carcoustics." During the usually two- to three-hour counselling sessions, a qualified social pedagogue specializing in toddlers advises parents, who are often at a loss, on how to deal with a wide variety of problems. "The donation from Carcoustics helps us a lot in making this offer available to parents free of charge," says Helmut Ring.
The Child Protection Association is financed almost exclusively by donations and is dependent not only on generous donations in kind from companies and private individuals, but also on monetary donations in order to be able to finance the personnel costs for specialists and the necessary training of volunteers. In addition to five full-time part-time employees, the Child Protection Association employs around 90 volunteers. Among other things, they work in projects such as the "Nummer gegen Kummer" ("Number against sorrow"), where parents, children and young people can call if they have any problems and are advised by one of the 40 staff members responsible for this. Another field of activity of the Leverkusen branch is the so-called "Wellcome Program". Volunteers help young parents to cope with their everyday lives. "For example, this can simply consist of looking after the baby for one to two hours while the parents are shopping or going to the doctor," explains Helmut Ring.
The German Child Protection Association Leverkusen was founded in 1982. The association, which today has around 300 members, has made it its mission to work for the observance of children's rights. The Child Protection Association refers above all to the rights for children laid down in the UN Convention, such as the right to care, development, education and upbringing and the right to protection against violence as well as participation and co-determination.
