Pressrelease -

Carcoustics presents its new efficient sound insulation product for heating and cooling system compressors.

  • The Leverkusen-based company has developed a noise reducing compressor insulation system made of polyurethane
  • Permanent loads of between -40 °C and 150 °C are possible and the product is customizable

Carcoustics is presenting a new, patented solution for noise reduction in heating and air conditioning systems at the 2016 Hannover Messe trade fair. The company, which develops and manufactures acoustically and thermally effective components for the automotive industry and other industries, has produced a compressor isolation “sound jacket” made of molded polyurethane foam parts, offering an alternative to conventional compressor insulation.

Modern heating and air conditioning technology continues to set new standards for the efficient use of energy. Be it for residential or outdoor purposes, installations place high demands on the acoustic properties of the unit. Reliable, innovative solutions are needed to reduce emissions in an environmentally sound manner.

Heating and air conditioning are used within enclosed areas. In many cases these areas have no other appreciable source of noise or other heat and are insulated from the outside. Because of this, even the lowest emissions are clearly noticeable. At the same time, these systems are generally run continuously. Acoustical requirements are becoming increasingly important for the environment.

The patented construction of the new compressor insulation system is made of polyurethane foam and a custom designed dust core. The detailed design of the spring-mass allows for a maximum acoustic rating and therefore offers a number of advantages to manufacturers and users of heating and air conditioning systems.

Marcus Cleff, Sales Director for Industrial Solutions and Commercial Vehicles at Carcoustics, says, “If the core requirements are met, the material can steadily handle temperatures between -40 °C and 120 °C, and can even briefly sustain temperatures of 150 °C. The construction and materials can be adapted to suit the customer’s needs.” Any size up to 1000x500 mm is feasible. The benefits are especially apparent with a frequency range of up to approximately 1,000 Hz.

Carcoustics is showcasing its products at the Hannover Messe trade fair from April 25 to 29, 2016 in Hall 16, Booth A10.
