Integrated bearing casing from Carcoustics reduces noise of vacuum cleaners and simplifies installation

  • Acoustic components installed close to the motor integrated into a single component
  • Flexible motor bearing with polyurethane foam seal
  • Sales Director Marcus Cleff comments: "The design options are unlimited thanks to the extreme versatility of the PUR foaming process."

Carcoustics – designers and manufacturers of acoustic and thermal components for the automotive and household appliance industries and other industrial sectors – has reduced noise and improved the design of vacuum cleaner fans thanks to its new flexible motor bearing with polyurethane foam seal. The bearing and casing are combined in a single component, for noise reduction without the need for additional space. Carcoustics will be unveiling its new product at Hannover Messe.

"The integrated design of our new bearing casing provides major benefits compared to conventional bearings with additional casings. The design options are unlimited thanks to the extreme versatility of the PUR foaming process", says Marcus Cleff, Sales Director Industrial Solutions at Carcoustics. "We are proving that we can provide the household appliances industry with new, intelligent designs and in this way simplify production and procurement processes."

The significantly softer bearing adjustment has improved the damping effect of the new bearing casing by reducing to a minimum the vibration transfer to the housing and providing optimum decoupling of the structures. This flexible decoupling of the motor fan unit from the vacuum cleaner housing has led to significant reductions in the transfer of structure-born noise and hence in noise emissions from the vacuum cleaner housing. Its integration into a single component removes the need for certain production and procurement processes, as a single component replaces all the acoustic components installed close to the motor. This integrated solution also meets the stringent fire safety requirements of ISO9772.
